These Chocolate Pecan Morning Buns are perfect for breakfast or a sweet treat with coffee!

What you'll need:

- 1 Pack of puff pastry

-½ stick unsalted butter

-½ cup coconut sugar

-½ cup dark chocolate chips

-1 bag Evie’s Snacks Brown Butter Rum Pecans

Cinnamon Sugar:

-3 tbsp cane sugar

-1 tbsp cinnamon

Instructions:

Prepare the Puff Pastry:

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F.. Line a muffin tin with paper liners or lightly grease the muffin cups.
  • Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface. Each sheet should be rolled into a rectangle, roughly 10x12 inches.

Melt the Butter, Sugar, and Chocolate:

  • In a small saucepan or microwave safe bowl, melt the unsalted butter over low heat. Once melted, add the coconut sugar and dark chocolate chips. Stir continuously until the chocolate chips are fully melted and the mixture is smooth. You can place this mixture in the fridge for 10-15 to thicken it up.

Spread the Filling:

  • Evenly spread the melted butter, coconut sugar, and chocolate mixture over the puff pastry leaving a small border around the edges.

Add the Pecans:

  • Sprinkle the chopped Brown Butter Rum Pecans over the chocolate mixture.

Cut the Pastry:

  • Cut strips of the puff pastry and then roll each strip up so it forms a swirl.

Bake:

  • Bake the morning buns in the preheated oven for 18-22 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.

Cool and Serve:

  • Allow the buns to cool and then toss in cinnamon sugar.

Enjoy!
